Wear And Tear On Your Garage Door

Wear And Tear On Your Garage DoorMaybe because of its simplicity, garage doors tend to be overlooked, and sometimes even taken for granted. When it works as it is supposed to, it goes up when you press one button, and it goes down when you press another button. Of all the mechanical components of a home, the garage door is one of the most reliable. But it is not indestructible. Over time, the parts can wear down and sometimes reach the point of failure. If the failure of one part or another prevents the garage door from opening and closing, you may find yourself stranded in your house or facing a security issue if you cannot get it to close. Rise & Shine Garage Doors can address your garage door’s issue, regardless of the severity of the problem.

Importance Of Regular Garage Door Maintenance

If your garage door was installed properly, you may have years or decades of problem free use. Because the moving parts of your garage door are under near constant stress, however, one problem or another is bound to emerge after some time has passed. The main spring is a good example. Even when it is not moving up or down, your garage door’s spring is under tension. The cables connected to the door work with the spring. They are capable of holding large amounts of weight, but again, over time, the material can fatigue, which results in less efficiency of movement and even failure of the cables.

A more vulnerable part of the garage door system is the rollers. The rollers move along the tracks in the frame, but they can become misshapen as a result of wear and tear. If there is friction on one or more rollers, they will develop flat spots that prevent them from fitting well and rolling will become more labored. Rollers that do not roll smoothly place greater stress on the spring and cables, which causes them to wear out faster than they otherwise would.

Navigating COVID-19

We are still open as an essential business

To our valued customers,

Recent news about COVID-19 is unfortunate for many of our customers and our local businesses. As we continue to learn more about COVID-19 and as other businesses start the Pause phase of the recent Executive Order, our team at Rise & Shine Garage Doors would like to express our concern for all those who have been affected. Our employees and our customers are our top priority , and we are doing everything we can to ensure the health and safety of each.

We have been closely monitoring the situation since it began and fully support all precautions being taken to prevent any further spread of the virus. Rise & Shine Garage Doors has remained open and in full operation as we understand how important it may be to your daily lives to have a fully functional Garage Door. We continue to follow the plan we set in place in March when this pandemic began and will continue to do so. These are the changes we have made to our policies to help prevent the spread:

  • Our technicians will practice social distancing rather than shaking hands at the door.
  • Estimates and repair recommendations will be done remotely or over the phone while our customers stay inside or quarantined.
  • Preferably all payments will be made by credit card rather than by check.
  • We will continue to clean up after ourselves, wash our hands, and use hand sanitizer often.

The nature of our industry allows us a lot of flexibility in these times as most of our technicians are working in one to two man crews which is well under the guidelines that have been laid out before us. We even have the ability to complete all work without any face to face interactions and take payments over the phone.

We thank you for working with us as we navigate this situation.

With kind regards,

Josh Dutcher and Alex Johantgen
