Garage Door Maintenance & Why It’s Important

Garage Door Spring Repair In ProgressWith proper routine garage door maintenance (a great way to prevent problems and ensure that your garage door is safe) you can expect your garage door to last 20-30 years. That is a long time when you think about how many times you open and close it each week. In fact, it is easy to ignore your garage door for weeks, months, or even years assuming that it is working just fine. Rather than wait for the day that you push the door opener, and your garage door fails to open or close, you may want to consider routine maintenance. The team at Rise & Shine Garage Doors specializes in residential and commercial garage door maintenance.

Does Cold Weather Cause Garage Door Problems

Does Cold Weather Cause Garage Door ProblemsThere is nothing mild about the winters in Minnesota. It is brutally cold for extended periods of time and there is also plenty of winter precipitation to go along with the cold air. Rise & Shine Garage Doors works all year round, including the winter months, because cold weather can cause issues with a garage door system.

Low temperatures in the winter months can cause metal to contract. When the metal in your garage door contracts it tightens and becomes more difficult to open and close reliably. This can also cause problems with your garage door springs and your tracks. Your springs can become brittle in the cold months and are more likely to break

Navigating COVID-19

We are still open as an essential business

To our valued customers,

Recent news about COVID-19 is unfortunate for many of our customers and our local businesses. As we continue to learn more about COVID-19 and as other businesses start the Pause phase of the recent Executive Order, our team at Rise & Shine Garage Doors would like to express our concern for all those who have been affected. Our employees and our customers are our top priority , and we are doing everything we can to ensure the health and safety of each.

We have been closely monitoring the situation since it began and fully support all precautions being taken to prevent any further spread of the virus. Rise & Shine Garage Doors has remained open and in full operation as we understand how important it may be to your daily lives to have a fully functional Garage Door. We continue to follow the plan we set in place in March when this pandemic began and will continue to do so. These are the changes we have made to our policies to help prevent the spread:

  • Our technicians will practice social distancing rather than shaking hands at the door.
  • Estimates and repair recommendations will be done remotely or over the phone while our customers stay inside or quarantined.
  • Preferably all payments will be made by credit card rather than by check.
  • We will continue to clean up after ourselves, wash our hands, and use hand sanitizer often.

The nature of our industry allows us a lot of flexibility in these times as most of our technicians are working in one to two man crews which is well under the guidelines that have been laid out before us. We even have the ability to complete all work without any face to face interactions and take payments over the phone.

We thank you for working with us as we navigate this situation.

With kind regards,

Josh Dutcher and Alex Johantgen
