Broken Garage Door Replacement Minneapolis, MN
- Tuesday, 14 June 2016 19:31
This week in Minneapolis, Minnesota we were able to help out one of our customers on a rental property. This particular customer was unsure whether repairing the existing garage door or replacing it would be the best option. We were able to give options on both repair and replacement, the customer ended up going with the new door option. It was apparent that the door had ran into something which caused it to go off track. There was damage to the cables, rollers and sections. Within 24 hours of the initial visit we had a brand new garage door installed. We replaced the existing garage door with a new Hormann, Gemini 2100, non-insulated, raised panel garage door. The trim on the garage door was also worn and the customer had mentioned he wanted it replaced so we were able to take care of that on the same trip. It can sometimes be a hard decision to replace your garage door, especially if it’s on a rental property. But the homeowner knew that the door needed to be replaced and completed the right way.
What to consider when looking for a new garage door?
When you have a company out for a new garage door estimate or Garage Door Repair, it can be difficult to know what type of product you may be getting. We have put together a list of some very important questions you should ask any company trying to earn your business:
- Are you Insured? (Very important question to ask, there are a lot of little 1 man operations that if not insured could hold you liable for any damages or injuries while on your property)
- What type of warranty do you offer? (It is always important to ask about warranties, you want to be able to compare apples to apples. For example if one company offers a 1 year warranty but another offers a 5 year, it can be presumed that the higher quality product would come with a longer warranty.)
- What is the R-Value? (R-Value is only important if you are concerned about the insulation of the garage. The higher the R-Value the higher the doors resistance to heat and cold is)
- Who installs the door? (There are many companies that use sub-contractors for their garage door installations. If sub-contractors are doing the installs is the warranty through the company or the sub? This can be a very sketchy situation if you end up needing service on your newly installed garage door)
If you’re looking for the highest quality service and Garage Door Installation, look no further than Garage Door Repair Company. New Garage Door Installation Minneapolis MN

When is the right time to replace a garage door? This is one of the most common questions we get from our customers. Most recently one of our Minneapolis customers was having this same dilemma. He called us out to take a look at the garage door that had a Broken Torsion Cable. When going over the repair options the customer asked how much it would be to replace the entire garage door, preferably something with windows. The technician went over the best replacement options with the homeowner and they decided the best course of action was to install a New Garage Door. Our customer was really eager to add some natural light into the garage in order to use it as a work space. We were able to install a brand new garage door with cross glass inserts. The finished product not only looks great but will be running smooth for years to come!
Does Adding Glass To A Garage Door Cost More?
As technicians this is a question we are asked daily, and the answer is yes windows are always going to be an extra charge. The reason for this is the higher cost of glass as well as the labor involved in cutting the glass into the sections. However the cost to add glass to a garage door in comparison to how much curb appeal it can add to a home is a minor expense. By adding glass you are not just adding curb appeal, but also natural light that so many garages are lacking. This will help make the garage a great work space.
What Type Of Warranty Options Come With New Doors?
The list is endless for the different amount of warranties on garage doors. Every manufacturer has different specification and warranties. However the typical industry standards are Limited Lifetime Section Warranty, 3 Year Hardware Warranty. At Garage Door Repair Company we are proud to exceed expectations by providing a 5 Year Parts & Labor Warranty on all garage door installations we complete. Any issue you have with one of our installations will be covered at no cost to you for the first five years.
All of our New Garage Door Estimates are done free of charge, we also come to you and bring all of our brochures, color and window options to ensure you pick the right door for your home. If you are interested in scheduling an appointment simply call 612-886-9606 today!

Does adding windows increase the price of a New Garage Door?
This is a common question we get when customers are looking to replace their garage doors. The answer is yes, adding a custom glass top section does add to the cost, however the money you are gaining in curb appeal can easily out way the cost of the glass. Windows are not the only add on that can increase the price of your door, having an insulated garage door can also add unwanted cost to your project. Insulation can be very important if you have an attached or heated garage. Ensuring you have the proper R-Value for your home can save hundreds on your heat bill.
What is R-Value?
R-Value is a metric used to gauge an objects resistance to heat and cold. The higher the number the better resistance your garage door will have. There are many different types of doors with different R-Values, and knowing what’s right for your home can often be troubling. This is why Garage Door Repair Co. offers all of our Minneapolis customers free onsite estimates. This allows us to assist you in finding the perfect design and level of insulations for your home.
